My life is an adventure.
My birth state is in the Pacific Northwest. Growing up in the City, with weekends driving to the Ocean or the Mountains for recreation was simply delicious
In addition, there was travel
By the time I was 18, I had been to almost all of the States, including Alaska. This travel gave me the impetus for more.
University brought new variation to my life. One year I studied in Istanbul, Turkey, another year worked in London for the now defunct TWA. In between I traveled Europe and the Middle East. My years of study culminated with a degree in Business, specifically International Finance. I was also recognized to be excellent in organizational management.
Just as my Stateside professional life was getting underway, I married and moved to The Netherlands.
Loved living abroad. While in Holland, two wonderful children were born and life was infinitely enriched.
As an early feminist, trying to have it all:
I was president of the American Women’s Club of Amsterdam. This lead to writing and publishing the definite guide on life for the ex-pat. There were 11 editions.
During this time, I honed my skiing skills on the treacherous slopes of the Alps. There are stories to be related about that.
20 years later, found me living again in the States, in Washington DC.
There I worked at the White House in service for Military Veterans. On the phone, listening to their concerns and realizing the lack of help by the government was eye-opening and has given me a life long heightened awareness of what we as a country owe them.
During this time I wrote a travel book and was published in various forms of media and television.`
And then life took another big turn.
Personal choices and circumstances saw a move to the wilds of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia; my first turn as a country-girl.
An advert of Tiffany & Co read “Think of it as a down-payment on your Porsche, at the time I was purchasing a 911.
Collected this silver colored dashing piece of equipment in the West and drove cross-country. Authored a book with accompanying music and photographs.
Organized with another concerned woman a CSA for organics, the first in the area.
Traveled and wrote.
Spent time in Mexico, Malta and Nova Scotia.
But there is more…
University of Virginia – took my first acting class with Carol Pederson. Her comment: ‘Have you wanted to do this all your life?” Who knew?
After putting in my Malcolm Gladwell 10k hours between Charlottesville and Philadelphia, I moved to New York City.
My study there immediately commenced with Austin Pendleton. Through HB Studio I took classes and workshops from accomplished actors and teachers.
Broadway and Off–Broadway Theatre was readily accessible. Life was great. Auditions, bookings new friends, new ideas, new experiences and all the while growing older.
And Now?
In addition to my own acting, I am looking to give back to the community, at large and in micro. I have volunteered to work with the drama department of a local high school. I am writing a movie script. After more than 1200 entries, I continue to blog about life through my eyes.
This near final chapter will clearly prove to be the richest yet. I’m all for it.
